The OMGhee Story
The Cook is Sacred
Remember eating your favourite home cooked meal, handmade by your mother or grandma? It was special. It wasn’t the ingredients or the baking pan that set it apart from the same dish elsewhere. It was the love.
At OMGhee we have a mantra – ‘The Cook is Sacred’. From every person in the kitchen to how we run our business, it is our our overriding philosophy on delivering the best possible Australian organic ghee to you for healing and transformation.
The ‘not so secret’ ingredients in our ghee are love, joy, and intention.
Love for the cows and the farmer who tend over them. Love for the butter and its willingness to succumb to something new and love to you, our customer.
Joy to be following our passion and delivering a quality product. And lastly, the intention that every mouthful of ghee becomes a part of you, providing maximum wellbeing, and the spirit of and love and joy seeps into each and every cell of your body.

A home to call our own. An office to work from, a cool room, ample storage and most importantly a larger kitchen. Our bratt pans allow us to cook more ghee to keep up with demand, and we have started cooking ghee for other ghee brands to make sure ALL Australian ghee brands have all the OMGhee yums.

New Jars & Lables
Earlier jars were proving too heavy to post and we wanted OMGhee to be shelf stable for a very long time so we upgraded to new jars – and a new label. In the background we were designing a website and our ‘official’ labels. We are now selling to friends of friends.

A Mission to Educate
We’re on a mission to educate and inspire everyday Australians on the benefits of ghee. One day in the future we want to see a jar of OMGhee sitting on every kitchen bench. Step one – having everyone know what ghee is! 😂
We hold introduction to ghee classes in Adelaide, South Australia where you discover how to make your own ghee and walk away a ghee connoisseur.
Contact us to find out when the next course is being held.
Smeared on toast, dolloped on vegies or cooking your steak in it; OMGhee’s distinct warm, toasty, caramelisation makes it a wonderful addition to any kitchen. It brings a new level of nourishment and indulgence to every meal.

About the Maker
Hi I’m Lisa,
Picture this, a workaholic putting in 60 plus hours a week while struggling with an autoimmune disease and all that goes along with that, stress, sleepless nights and utter exhaustion. That was me. And seriously, something had to give.
After a lifetime of playing by the rules, behaving myself and staying in the box the thought occurred to me, ‘If at 50 I can’t follow my joy, what’s the point?’ This question digested over several of months and became the catalyst that led me, kicking and screaming initially, to finally surrendering.
Surrendering to what? My Joy.
I am still gobsmacked at the immediate change that took place. All matter of serendipitous coincidences and resources came rushing forward to support me. No longer was I was hustling, pushing and striving, instead as I relinquish control I experienced flow, grace and ease.
And my joy? Making Ghee.
A practice requiring total presence and what I like to call my ‘great pause’. In the unassuming space, standing over the stove, watching, listening, and smelling the glorious transformation of butter into ghee I discovered my joy.
Crazy!
Making ghee has become a metaphor for life and I want to share and educate anyone who will listen not only on the amazing health benefits of Ghee, but the joy that is available to us when following our heart.
Just like the butter surrenders itself to become precious, golden Ghee I want to remind you that in surrendering there is great magic and joy to be found.
For the love of Ghee
A Thousand Years in the Making
Used medicinally for thousands of years as well as everyday eating across India and the wider South Asian region; ghee is considered a superfood. For those new to ghee think of it as an excellent and healthier alternative to butter.
Whether baking, frying, cooking, or smearing it over toast before adding your vegemite, it’s a simple one to one switch from butter to ghee. It’s especially good for those who are lactose intolerant because all the milk solids are eliminated during the cooking process making it easy and nourishing on the gut.
It’s shelf stable and does not require refrigeration until opened and then we suggest you use it within 3 months as the flavour will change over time once exposed to the external environment. OMGhee is Handmade with 100% biodynamic, organic butter from grass-fed Cows.
